Trudy Reed is a Nashville native, but once she arrived in the Promised Land (Texas of course), it didn't take her long to appreciate Western Swing music and the lime & cilantro flavors of Texas! She stays busy cooking gourmet meals, buying real estate, performing voice overs, mentoring at-risk women, managing IT projects, serving as a prayer chaplain and being a wonderful wife.
A wide variety of music including Jazz, Classic Rock, Blues, Americana, and traditional country can be heard in her kitchen. Miles Davis is her favorite Jazz artist (as long as he doesn't get too boppy) and Guy Clark and Don Henley are her favorite songwriters. Texas singer/songwriters such as Asleep at the Wheel, Lyle Lovett, and Junior Brown round out her musical tastes.
Her rather odd affinity for Zombies comes from their singular purpose: Eat Brains. Trudy's life advice is that if you are going to do something, do it well and give it 100% (not Eat Brains). Her favorite possessions include: Nothing. She's ready to chuck it all and start over at any moment. "They are just things". Except maybe for her Miyabi Japanese Chef's knives (for the occasional Zombie attack or onion dicing).
Trudy loves to travel and has lived in a wide variety of locations, including Murfreesboro, TN; Clearwater, FL; Ft Walton Beach, FL; Chicago, IL; Long Island, NY; Dallas, TX and now Houston TX. She strongly believes that travel opens your eyes to diversity and teaches patience. Future travel plans include Paris, London, Japan, Alaska and Bora Bora.
Her goals are varied, but all center around enriching her life, her family and those around her. She'll be able to spend even more time on the important things in life when her financial freedom goal is met, and she works hard on that goal every day. She would love to travel the US in an RV, while writing a book about the people she encounters and her experiences. Another writing project (based on the care she gave her mother) would be a funny, practical guide to caring for an Alzheimer affected family member. An accompanying comedy tour would be "Trudy Reed: The Alzheimer Tour"!
Dan Reed is a Texas native from Corsicana (known for the unfortunate deadly rampage of a circus elephant and the fortunate births of Billy Joe Shaver and Lefty Frizzell). After sampling the fine living in Louisiana and Alaska, Dan came to his senses and sold his 5-speed snow blower to return to the heat of Texas. He currently resides in Houston with his beautiful and talented wife, Trudy. Dan stays busy cooking, travelling, investing in real estate, and dancing with Trudy.
Dan enjoys live music and is a frequent visitor to The Mucky Duck to hear Junior Brown, Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis, and other wonderful Texas singer/songwriters. He is lucky enough to have been introduced to Jazz by Trudy and they have visited a variety of Jazz venues including Red Cat Blues and Scat (the kind of places where you think you probably shouldn’t be, but the music is great).
Dan loves to travel and has visited 6 of the 7 continents (he’s looking for a way to visit Antarctica, but that’s a tough one). He’d love to travel to France and Spain, along with anywhere in the South Pacific.
His three sons live around the country and are experiencing the normal ups and downs of becoming adults. Collin lives in St George, UT, Jordan lives in Baton Rouge, LA, and Thomas is in Malibu, CA. They all manage to get together for holidays and the occasional Black Sabbath concert.
